Comparing two texts
How it works
A diff finds the longest common subsequence between both texts and marks what was added and removed. It is the same idea Git uses to show changes.

Whitespace and line endings
Many differences are only spaces or line endings (CRLF vs LF). Ignoring them helps you see the real changes.
