How to use: Truncate text

Why truncate
Meta descriptions, card summaries and database fields have length limits. Cutting in the middle of a word looks unprofessional; truncating at the last space before the limit avoids it.
Ellipsis
Adding "…" shows the text continues. Note that the single character counts as one, while three consecutive dots count as three, which matters for strict limits.
Limits with emoji
Some emoji take several code points; cutting in the middle can leave them broken. The tool counts visible characters to avoid such cuts.
