Clean slugs for URLs
What a slug is
The slug is the readable part of a URL that identifies a page, for example /blog/calculate-vat. It should be lowercase, without spaces, accents or symbols, and use hyphens to separate words.
SEO best practice
Use relevant keywords, keep the slug short (3–6 words), drop filler words such as "the" or "of" when they add nothing, and do not change it once the page is published; if you do, add a 301 redirect.
Transliteration
Accented characters are converted to their basic equivalent (á → a, ñ → n, ü → u) so the URL works the same on every system, since non-ASCII characters are percent-encoded in unreadable ways.
