Adding and subtracting days from a date
How it works
Adding days means moving forward on the calendar respecting the real length of each month and leap years. Adding 30 days to 15 January gives 14 February, not 15 February.
Months versus days
Adding "one month" to 31 January has no single answer, because February has no 31st; calendars usually return the last day of February. For exact deadlines, working in days is safer.
Typical deadlines
14-day withdrawal periods for online purchases, payment terms of 30 or 60 days, trial periods or subscription renewal dates. When a deadline falls on a holiday, the law or contract usually moves it to the next business day.
