Compress Images Online

Add several images, choose JPG or WebP, adjust the quality and, optionally, a max width. You'll see each image's size before and after and the total savings. Compression happens in your browser.

Between 70% and 85% the difference is barely visible and the savings are large.

Images are processed in your browser and never uploaded to any server.

  • Optimize website images so pages load faster.
  • Save space when archiving work photos.

How to shrink an image without it showing

Lossy compression

JPG and WebP discard detail the eye barely notices. Quality controls how much is discarded: between 70% and 85% the savings are large and the difference almost invisible; below 60% blocks and halos appear around edges and gradients.

Pixel size matters more than quality

A 4000 px-wide phone photo shown at 1200 px on a website or in a document wastes most of its data. Capping the width at 1920 px usually cuts more weight than any quality setting.

When not to compress

Logos, screenshots with text and flat illustrations look worse as JPG. For those, PNG is usually best; if you want them smaller, try WebP at high quality.

Frequently asked questions

What quality should I use?+

For photos, 70% to 85%: the difference is barely visible and the file is usually 50–80% smaller. Below 60% artifacts start to show.

JPG or WebP?+

WebP is around 25–35% smaller at the same quality and every current browser supports it. Use JPG if the image is going into an old program or a form that only accepts JPG.

Why is an image bigger afterwards?+

It happens when the original was already highly optimized or is a simple graphic. In that case keep the original or try another format.
